FSSC 22000 Connection
1. What is FSSC 22000?
FSSC 22000 is an internationally recognised food safety certification scheme used across the global food supply chain.
It verifies that organisations comply with food safety management system requirements based on ISO standards and sector-specific prerequisite programmes.
2. What can you do with FSSC 22000?
By connecting FSSC 22000 to Simvia, you can:
- Automatically retrieve FSSC 22000 certificate data
- Monitor certification validity and status
- Store expired certificates for versioning and historical tracking
- Reduce manual document collection
This supports structured and reliable food safety compliance monitoring.
3. How the FSSC 22000 connection works
FSSC 22000 does not require a setup per individual account.
Central integration model
Simvia uses one central FSSC 22000 account to retrieve certificate data. This account is used to pull in all relevant certificate information from the FSSC database.
Individual organisations do not need to:
- Create their own FSSC connection
- Configure API access
- Set up credentials in Company settings
The data is synchronised centrally and made available within the platform where applicable.
Step 2 – Add the FSSC 22000 COID to organisations
To retrieve certificate data, each organisation must have a valid:
FSSC 22000 COID
(COID = Certified Organisation Identification number)
To add it:
- Open the organisation
- Go to Unique identifiers
- Add FSSC 22000 as an identifier
- Enter the COID
- Save
You must add the COID for:
- All existing organisations you want data for
- All newly created organisations
Without a valid COID, no data can be retrieved.
The COID must be entered exactly as registered.
4. Where to find the identifier
The required identifier is the:
- FSSC 22000 COID*
Example format: FSSC COID [XXX-0-0000-000000]
You can find this:
- On the official FSSC 22000 certificate
- In the public FSSC 22000 register
- Directly from the certified organisation
5. How to retrieve data for an organisation
After:
- The FSSC 22000 connection is activated, and
- A valid COID is added to the organisation
Simvia will automatically retrieve available certificate data.
Data is refreshed daily, ensuring certification information remains up to date.
No manual request is required.
6. What data is retrieved
When available, Simvia retrieves:
- Name of the certified organisation
- Certificate valid from date
- Certificate valid to date
- Official certificate number
- GFSI recognised
- Certificate status
- Multisite
- Food chain category
Expired certificates remain stored for historical reference and compliance tracking.
7. How to access and use the data
Retrieved FSSC 22000 data can be found in:
- Documents → Supplier documents (as a database extract), or
- The organisation’s document overview
You can use this data to:
- Verify food safety certification validity
- Monitor expiration dates
- Include FSSC status in compliance reviews and reporting
8. Important to know
- Both steps are required:
- Database connection must be active
- COID must be added per organisation
- Data is refreshed daily at 00:00
- You must add the COID for every organisation you want data for
- Remember to add it for newly created organisations
- Only certificates available in the FSSC 22000 database can be retrieved
- The COID must be entered exactly as registered
If certificate data is missing or incorrect, verify the COID or consult the FSSC public register.
