Release Note #12 - PPWR Data Model and Performance Improvements - May 2026

Dear Simvia user,

We're excited to share a major step forward in how you can manage your product and packaging data, laying the foundation for full product compliance and PPWR readiness. On top of that we’ve rolling out speed improvements to reduce the loading time of the platform. Here’s all you need to know.

PPWR - A new way to structure your product portfolio

Meeting packaging regulations like PPWR requires more than just collecting documents, it requires knowing exactly what your products are made of, down to the material level. To make that possible, we've introduced a new product data model that lets you build a complete bill of materials structure directly in Simvia.

  • Updated product portfolio - Now supports hierarchical, bill-of-materials structures across your product range.
  • New product types - You can now classify products as: SKU (final product), Ingredient, Raw material ingredient, Packaging unit, Packaging component, and Packaging base material.
  • Bulk add & edit - Add and manage products and packaging data at scale, without repetitive manual entry
  • Reusable base materials - Define packaging base materials once and reuse them across components, to avoid entering the same data twice

In this release, the focus is on packaging. Ingredients and raw material ingredients can already be assigned the correct product type, with further functionality for those coming in future updates.

Platform speed improvements

Over the next week, we’ll be rolling out several speed improvements to reduce loading times significantly. Suspending requirements within a request is now much faster, and requirement calculations are handled in the background.

  • Requirements are now calculated and validated in the background, allowing you to continue using the platform without waiting for validation to complete.
  • A “calculating” indicator appears in the top menu bar while validation is in progress.
  • Once validation is complete, you can click the indicator to refresh and update the content on the page if needed.
  • This approach significantly reduces waiting times, though some data may remain outdated until you refresh.

Once requirement calculation is complete, you can click the indicator to update the page if needed. Without mandatory waiting time.
