# Set Product Seasonality

Set a product’s seasonality to tell Simvia when it’s in season in each country. Simvia then only sends new product-specific document requests during the active season, so your suppliers don’t get requests for products they aren’t supplying at that time of year.

This is useful for seasonal products, such as fresh produce, that you source from different countries at different times of the year.

### Before you start

- The product must already be on the **Products** page. If it isn’t there yet, see**[Add a product](https://helpcenter.simvia.com/knowledge-base/how-to-add-a-single-product?hsLang=en).**
- You can only set seasonality for products with the type **Raw material**, or for products without a type. Other product types, such as SKUs, ingredients and packaging, can’t have a season.

- Seasonality only affects product-specific requirement rules. Rules that apply to a supplier in general are not affected-.

### Set the active season

1. Go to **Products**
2. Open the product
3. Go to **Seasonality**
4. Select the country
5. Set the start and end of the active season
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for each country you source the product from
7. Click **Save

The season repeats every year, so you only need to set it once.

### What happens after you set seasonality

- **In season:** new product-specific document requests are sent as usual
- **Out of season:** no new product-specific requests are created for that product

The product’s season status shows as **In season** or **Out of season**.

### Requests created during the season

Seasonality controls when new requests are created. It doesn’t close requests that were created during the season.

This means a supplier can still open a request and upload documents after the season has ended. Those documents then appear in your **Outgoing requests** with the status **Ready to review**.

If you don’t want to receive documents for a product after its season ends:

1. Go to **Requests** \> **Outgoing requests**
2. Search for the supplier
3. Open the request for the out-of-season product
4. Suspend the missing documents

**Tip:** Suspending a request does not create a new one. Cancelling a request does, because Simvia automatically creates a new request for the missing items.

### Why a supplier still receives requests

If a supplier seems to receive requests for a product that’s out of season, check these:

- **The request was created during the season.** Check the **Created at** date in **Outgoing requests**.
- **The request is about another organisation in the supply chain.** If a supplier’s growers or packhouses have no contact person, their requests go to the supplier at the top of the chain. Check the **About** column to see who the request is for.
- **The supplier also supplies products that are in season.** Requests for those products continue as usual.

### Change or remove a season

1. Go to **Products**
2. Open the product
3. Go to **Seasonality**
4. Edit the dates for the country, or remove the country
5. Click **Save**
